80GB of HDD
8X DVD +-RW
15.4 Inch WUXGA LCD
MS Windows XP Professional
Intel Pro/Set wireless 2200B/G wireless NIC.
Broadcom 10/100 MB Ethernet.

Which distro would support this computer best for driver support “out of box”. All hardware needs to work perfectly after install. Or a link to where to download drivers and how to install.

Ubuntu tends to be known for out of box functionality. You can download the .iso file, burn it to cd, install it, and you get internet functionality right away with Firefox, and can access their excellent tech site.

I never use my computer for gaming, and it’s certainly not high-class cars in the first place, but recently I tried to play the game and said that the card is the lack of 32 MB of video memory that is needed, with no ” support for hardware transformation and lighting “, whatever that meant (I know absolutely no computer). So I guess I need a new graphics card, but I read that 2400 is a special kind of cards you can install. Some of them are slot AGP, and others who need a card PCI. Is there any way to know if I’ll be cracking it open? ? And is there anything else I should know before you spend money on a new memory card (compatible monitor, etc.) Best Answer:

where can I go to get solid info on computer hardware if I’d like to use it to get a job in the field? you know, somewhere besides Best Buy. The check your credit on employment applications. or even experience in Tech Support. I live in Austin Texas.

Go to Amazon or Half.com or a book store and pick up a book on the A+ certification. That will teach you everything you need to know to get a Tech Support job. You can’t do this in a week if you’re starting from scratch. If it was easy, no one would need tech support.

For most laptops there is little to no way to upgrade video cards. Most laptops use integrated motherboard video, and to upgrade, you would have to get a new motherboard. This would be too expensive and complex to do. There are many equivalents to that video card, but that card type is actually old. Newer cards have Direct X 9.0.
